O'Neill & Nicholson × ScoutRoom
Read the game
before it happens.
Every scout starts where a coaching staff would if it had the hours: recent form over season averages, the lineup actually playing, who to attack, who to leave, matchups mapped out, and the one thing that decides the game. It arrives as a brief written for the bench, not a data dump. On Matchday tiers, the same scout becomes a live app on your phone at the game.
Built on public box data. Deeper with your club’s own Synergy or FastScout data. Scouted by a coach, not exported from a dashboard.
The idea behind it
Model for breadth.
Scout for judgement.
"87th percentile from three." Good. Now what do you do with that on game day? A number handed to a bench with no context is trivia, not intelligence. ScoutRoom exists to turn the breadth into a decision, and to leave the decision with you.
Value and percentile, together
The rank tells you it matters. The raw number tells you how much. A percentile on its own is the most confident way to be wrong.
The sample, stamped
No percentile reaches you until the season means something, with a minimum-minutes floor and a "vs league, 13 games" stamp. If we cannot say what it is measured against, it does not go on the page.
A flag, not a verdict
A soft rebounding number says look here. It does not say why. That read is yours, and it is the part no model does for you.
The percentile points at the door. You decide whether to walk through it.
That is why every teardown ends with the one thing to do, not just the numbers. The evidence finds where they break. You decide whether it changes how you guard them.

Patrick O'Neill
Assistant Coach · Analytics & Scouting Lead
ScoutRoom started as my own 11pm problem. Assistant coach and analytics lead at Geelong United, one analyst on staff, every scout still due by Friday. I put AI on the grind and kept the read for myself. That split became the product.
Before Geelong I coached Ireland and Northern Ireland 3x3 across the senior, U23 and Team NI squads. Before that, fourteen years at Ulster University building the women's programme from local league to the Irish Superleague: conference titles, National Cup finals, a Centre of Excellence. The men's side won Premier League titles and back-to-back National Intermediate Cups.
Twenty-five years of it comes down to one job: turning film and numbers into something a bench can use with the clock running.
Simon Nicholson
Lead Assistant Coach · Video Coordinator
Three WNBL seasons of cutting film always came back to one key point: footage and data are worth nothing until a staff understands them and builds a plan.
At Geelong United I am the lead assistant on the NBL1 South Women's team along with being the Video Coordinator for the Geelong Venom in the WNBL.
Attending the Sports Business Classroom at the 2026 NBA Summer League gave me insight into what front offices do with data at the roster level. I came home wanting to build that for coaches.
The background is video and development. The job is giving coaches their time back.
The Product
Your next opponent, decoded.
vs league · 13 games · sample data, your teardown uses the real numbers
What's inside
- Recent form, not averages. The lineup actually playing the last five.
- Who to attack, who to leave. Matchups mapped out.
- One thing to take away. Bench-ready, not a data dump.
- The Matchday app. The same scout, live on your phone. Comes with Matchday and the multi-game packs, not the Teardown. See it running below.
See it for real
The brief, and the app it becomes.
The written teardown — every page
A complete Base build, start to finish. Tap any page to read it full size. The team is invented; the method, the layout and the depth are exactly what lands in your inbox.
What Premium adds
A deeper build on the same spine: play types, shot locations, and half-court vs transition splits, drawn from your club’s own Synergy or FastScout data. Same one-page decision at the front, more evidence behind it.
Same invented team, same round, same numbers as the Base pages above — so you can read exactly what the +Synergy layer adds, page for page.
A second full build: the contender case
The Bayview pages read a struggling side. This build reads the other assignment: a 14-4 contender that runs everything through one alpha. Invented names again, and underneath them a real season of public box scores: 18 games, all accounted for.
The Matchday app — in motion

The same scout, live on the bench — scout read, live tracking, shooter chart. One tap, no laptop, works offline.
You set what gets tracked. Tell us what your staff calls out and the tracking side is configured around it before tip-off, not after.
No app store, nothing to install. ScoutRoom apps run from a link in your browser — open it, choose "Add to Home Screen", and it sits on your phone like any other app. Works offline once it's loaded.
Demo data (fictional teams) — your build runs on your opponents.

The full breakdown
All prices AUD. Card payments by Stripe.
Every brief works off public box data. Does your club already have Synergy or FastScout? Any tier can build on your club's own data for +50% of that tier's price and go deeper: play types, shot locations, half-court vs transition splits. Synergy gives the deepest cut; FastScout adds rank and tendency context. We'll sort access in a way your club's licence allows.

ScoutRoom Tracker
The tracking half, as its own product. Set what you want tracked — possessions, shooters, actions, whatever your staff calls out — then tap to log it live and read the numbers at the buzzer. No scout content, no laptop, works offline once loaded.

No app store, nothing to install. It runs from a link in your browser — open it, choose "Add to Home Screen", and it sits on your phone like any other app.
Talk to us about the Tracker →Roster Consult
You know the gaps. Send us the brief: the positions you need and how you want to play. We run the recruitment analysis across NBL1, Big V, NBL and WNBL and deliver a top-5 shortlist as a PDF — who, why they fit, what they fix, and what to check before you pick up the phone.
This is a consultation, not dashboard access. Want to talk it through? Delivery can include a one-on-one call on Teams or Zoom.
